If you're not affected you're not paying attention |
I'm Rach, this blog is about me and my life and getting back into all things creative. I graduated in 2009 with a BA in Fine Art This about me re-discovering my creative side. I would describe myself as a mixed media artist mainly focussing on collage. Follow me on twitter @RGaffected |
Steve Bishop,Christian Dior - J’adore (Mountain Goat), 2008
Taxidermied goat, concrete, chalk
What can I say? Loved this piece, was in hysterics for a few minutes especially when I read the title! I’m really drawn towards it despite the taxidermy! The natural materials are great, both man-made in some way. Anything that takes a dig at glamorised perfume ads is always a win in my book.
Having previously missed the first Saatchi exhibition at Ipswich Art School I was determined not to miss this one. It is very exciting to have such a well known art collector in little ol’ Ipswich I was keen to see what we were getting and have to say I was not disappointed.
A fine array of oddities including a giant wagon-like sculpture made from vintage furniture and creepy creature costumes (scared me to say the least) were among the collection in Ipswich Art School. I have a few images of my favourites (apologies for the terrible camera phone pics!) which I thought I would share.
Revisitations is on from 23rd March - 26th August 2012. Worth having a look if you’re in the area!
